Steel is one of the original frame making materials in the modern bike world, but it has declined as a material since carbon, aluminum and titanium have become more popular. Yet steel is still a great material for bike riding. The manipulation of wall diameter and thickness allows for the ride quality needed for the purpose of the bike. The Drop SiR is not meant to be a light frame as then we lose performance sought in the brand. Besides, that's what the carbon frame is for. The SiR is made for those wanting the beautiful smooth ride of steel, with the powerful and comfortable positions that Drop is known for. With oversized downtubes and chain stays and an increased wall thickness, the power transfer through the bottom bracket challenges some of their carbon counterparts.  The 44mm heat tube with the 1 1/4" tapered fork will have you cornering exactly where you want to go with confidence. Whether going three wide into the 90 degree corner at criterium or carving a descent bend at 50+ mph, this steel bike will go exactly where the rider tells it to.
